Lid Astray
Enter an experimental simulation known as "the Labyrinth," where reality changes whenever you blink your real-life human eyes. Do you have what it takes to escape?
An interactive fiction game made in 72 hours for InkJam2023.
Requirements/Recommendations
Requires a webcam, to see when you blink. Technically, you can play without the webcam (hold spacebar to close your eyes), but you'll be missing out on much of the experience and gamefeel.
Audio is also highly recommended, and relevant to gameplay at one point (though, strictly speaking, the information is also conveyed visually).
Fullscreen also highly recommended, for the vibes.
Likely will not work at all on mobile.
If you fail the first time, try again. A good ending is possible!
Other Info
Made in 72 hours by Avery Hiebert and Ryan Samman for InkJam2023, for the theme "in the blink of an eye." Tools used include Ink (of course), Godot, Aseprite, Google MediaPipe, and Audacity. Definitely the most high-concept, technologically convoluted text-adventure game that I've ever made (so far).

This was a neat experience! I had a lot of fun with it. I didn't get past the faceless statue but I will try again later when I show this to my spouse.
Thanks for playing! You might want to see my reply to another comment below for a hint/spoiler regarding getting past the faceless statue.
Thanks! This game also works on mobile for me (iPhone), just FYI!
Great.just great
Wonderful game. It felt a bit cryptic at first, but once you get used to it, it becomes an incredibly immersive experience. I had to repeat the game more times than I would have liked to in order to get to the "good ending", but I enjoyed it a lot regardless.
I thouroughly enjoyed this, thank you for making it ^_^ and their right it works well on mobile. :D
I played on mobile and worked very well(android). How many endings does the game have? I cannot pass the faceless statue 😥
Surprised it works on mobile! Here's a ROT13 hint/spoiler if you want: Lbh pna'g trg cnfg gur 5gu punzore, ohg lbh pna rfpncr sebz gur rkcrevzrag ragveryl, juvpu vf gur bayl "tbbq" raqvat.
Thanks, i found it, awesome! :D
This game is insanely cool, love the concept. Unfortunately I died to the gorgon when I swear I kept my eyes closed the whole time, and the second time I held down the spacebar and still managed to die somehow. The one time I did make it past I died to the fifth chamber, lol. (The feeling of dread when I saw what was at the other end and recognized what was about to happen is great stuff.) I wonder what happens in the good ending?
exactly the same, yeah
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVEEEEEE, totally love <3
I like how it use the mechanic of eye blinking!
Love the mechanic, splendid idea !
