A voice in your sleep orders you to steal the fabled Necronomicon from the library of the world-renowned Miskatonic University.  Will giving in and doing it finally put an end to your nightmares?

A point & click adventure created for Adventure Jam 2023.  Made using Ink (with a custom point-&-click web template that I hope to eventually make public) and Aseprite.

I don't think the difficulty is that high, but I can add a "hints" section if there is any demand for it.

Replaying this. Still one of my favorite entries from the jam.

Pretty much exactly what I want from a short and simple Lovecraft game! Unexplained spookiness, cults, a slight feeling of helplessnes.

I really hope there will be a sequel, I got all the endings, very large cliffhanger.

I love that the theme of knowledge being power being so integrated into the game. The atmosphere was also just so tense and made me carry a heavy anticipation and guilt despite knowing it's just a game.

(Loved the way you gave hints using  shift cipher!)

The game was amazing just like Serum Run;; the lore in everything using the glyphs, cults and eldritch beings and dimensions was so well crafted!

The puzzles weren't too hard and they even made sense within the game's story and I just really loved the way you used the symbols at the very end, it was just so, so well done.

Glad I stumbled on your games, I really had fun with them and I cannot wait for more if you make any more (And maybe a sequel to this, maybe? The 'true' ending alluded to another time >.>) You've done a great job on them and this was so much fun!

Also read your Sentiment Analysis, found it super interesting the way you used comments to do so!

Thanks for playing/commenting! Nice to see that at least one person has bothered to check out my blog. :)

I'm liking the game so far, especially the art and atmosphere. I don't know how to get access to the restricted archives though. I think the hint feature would be a nice addition, but don't feel pressured to.

Here's some hints if you need them (can decode at https://rot13.com/):

Small hint:

Gur fvtvy ba gur yrggre va Cebsrffbe Fzlgur'f bssvpr vf fvtavsvpnag, naq gurer vf n eryrinag obbx va gur yvoenel pneq pngnybthr gung pna gryy lbh zber nobhg vg.

This game is really fun so far! But I'm having trouble with the mirror part right now.

Here's a hint if you need it (ROT13'd to avoid spoilers, you can decode it at https://rot13.com/):

Nyy gur vasbezngvba arrqrq gb npgvingr gur zveebe pna or sbhaq va gur "Fvtaf, fvtvyf, naq tylcuf" obbx va gur yvoenel.

Got it thanks!

Looove this game. So compelling. I'm stuck though. :') Don't know how to ask for a hint without spoilers ...

Haha. Got it. It was a good puzzle. (It was the very end.)

Great color pallet and a really nice art theme. I think hints could help, i did get stuck, but I'm terrible at puzzle games. The parts i could make it to made a really eerie vibe.

In case it wasn't clear, I did not create the colour palette, which is "Rosemoss 8" by lospec.com user polyphrog as stated in the credits.  It is a great palette, though!

very good

I made it to the "good" ending, but let's face it: in Lovecraft's world, that doesn't really mean anything :)

You managed to capture Lovecraft's ominous atmosphere extremely well. The books abot the lore weren't just a nice idea, they were also very well integrated. The fact that you actually gain (practical) knowledge through the library is neat. I liked that very much. The story is well written and so are the dialogues. And the pixel graphics are really good too. They fit the theme and the general atmosphere perfectly.

Wonderful game. I hope you will visit this world again. I'd love to see more of it. Either way, I'll definitely check out some of your other games later.

It looks interesting!

I got stuck at the scene where only a door and stacks are seen, I can't turn back from that scene.

A lot of people are reporting this.  Seems to be a bug that I can't reproduce in any of the browsers I've been testing on.  Sorry about that!!!  You could try another browser, or try downloading via the Itch desktop app.

The bug should be fixed now, if you're still interested in trying it!
